Today's update is bound to make your Nomadic lives better. It brings you comfort with fully customized controls. Let's you have it your way with your favorite field of view values for both first person and third person. And finally, when something goes wrong in Survival, you can load your save game as you see fit.
Planet Nomads is in a very early stage of Early Access and we don't pretend there aren't issues. Fortunately we got plenty of help from Nomads in identifying the main pain points. Now that the major ones are out of the way we can focus on expanding the Planet Nomads universe. (Sewing up the holes in the terrain is still planned, obviously).
As the game currently stands, the starting survival mechanics are well settled. You'll be happy to know that the sleeping bag now offers more protection and is finally up to its task - to let you go on adventures even without a mobile base at hand.
Though once you get to the later phases of the game, mobile bases become the real deal, now that suspension and wheel physics has been fixed in the previous update. The difference between before and now can be seen in Jimmy's experiments. A great deal of inspiration too.
There's plenty of room to explore the design possibilities and finer tricks. Without worrying you will lose your creations, now that the manual save/load is in place. Plus, we think you will love the new Item Dispenser block - it makes inventory management during building completely seamless.
Moving to the Next Phase
Planet Nomads is now a solid sandbox game. It is time to make the sandbox more interesting. The environment needs to provide more of a challenge. Expect more environmental hazards throughout the world - poisonous spores, meat-eating plants, radioactive anomalies [???].
With Thomas tweaking the animal AI, we can finally start deploying our vision for creature behavior. Make them act according to their essence and natural instinct. Surprise you. Scare you. Make you laugh. Become a real force of nature.
To better equip you against these dangers, we'll be introducing guns too. We haven't talked about them in much detail yet, but the ideas are flowing and once all pieces fit into place, we'll share the plan with you.
Is there more coming in the next months? Points of interest? Custom in-game events? You bet.
We're happy you're here with us. We want to thank you for that by making you happy in return.
Until next time, Nomads.
